Linton City Hall
City Hall Bench
On a Friday afternoon, July 25, 2003, former Mayor Jimmie K. Wright was surprised by thirty-five of his friends and family when he was presented with a granite bench, permanently placed on the city hall lawn to commemorate his twenty years of service as the mayor of Linton. Etched on the bench are the words:
Presented to Jimmie K. Wright for his dedication to the city of Linton during his twenty years as mayor. He truly likes Linton . . . his friends.
Wright’s name and the dates he served as mayor of Linton are engraved on the edge of the bench facing the sidewalk at the entrance to city hall.
Mayor Wright served longer than any other mayor of Linton. He was one of only four mayors that have been elected to a second term: “Doc” Bull, “Slim” Risher, Pat O’Hearn, and Wright. Wright was the longest serving mayor in the history of Linton by serving five terms.
