If fishing, camping, boating, hiking, picnicking, tennis, horse back riding or swimming are on your to-do list then Shakamak State Park is for you.
Below is a list of activites and facilities:
Boats - State owned boats may be rented by the hour or day. Privately owned boats may be launched on any of the three lakes, a launch ramp is provided at each of the lakes for this purpose. A launch permit is required to launch private boats. Only electric trolling motors, powered by no more than two twelve volt batteries are allowed.
Camping - Campground equipped with flush toilets, hot water and showers, plus handicapped accommodations. Occupancy is limited to two weeks. Some sites will accommodate both tents and trailers. Electricity is available at campsites and water is accessible at different locations throughout the campground.
Family Cabins - For a moderate fee, cabins may be rented April through October. Cabins rent by the week only from Saturday to Saturday in June, July and August. They can be rented by the night with a minimum of two nights on the weekend during the rest of the year. Some of the cabins are available year-round. Cabins may not be rented to anyone under the age of 21except when accompanied by a responsible adult.
Fishing - An Indiana Fishing License is required. All Indiana fishing laws are in effect.
Group Camp - The group camp is designed for organized groups under adult supervision. The group camp will accommodate 270 persons and is equipped with a kitchen, dining hall and modern restrooms facilities. Write to the Property Manager for information.
Hiking - Several miles of easy to moderate trails through the wooded areas and along the lake shores provide the visitors with a closer contact with the wonders of nature.
Picnic Area - Areas are provided throughout the park with tables, grills, toilet facilities, timberform playground equipment and playfields.
Tennis Courts - Two double courts are provided on a first-come basis and are located at the playground picnic area near the family cabins.
Saddle Barn - Miles of bridle trails.
Swimming - Swimming is permitted only when life-guard is on duty. Pool/Slide. Bathhouse and pool open Saturday before Memorial Day and no later than Labor Day.
