2016 Linton-Stockton Senior Sheets

A tradition that dates back to Pre-Columbian Linton Miners, the Senior Sheet is a banner hung by the Senior class once they have ransacked and raided all spoils from their High School Battle.  The sheets are meant to generate fear in the lesser school classes to demoralize any attempts at usurping the Senior title.

Happy 6th of July! I hope everyone had their fill of Hot Dogs and Freedom. We had another spectacular year of fireworks to end our Fourth of July and Freedom Festival, and I was able to snap some pictures with my cell phone, and the Google Photos Assistant stitched together some nice animations I thought I’d share. Enjoy!

Duke Tumatoe to perform at The Old Bank on Nov. 1st

Dr. Duke puts 'em up during a 2012 performance at the Greene County Shrine Club.

Duke Tumatoe, the infamous Midwestern bluesman, will return to Linton to perform on Saturday, November 1st at The Old Bank & Co. downtown. The event is being organized by the Linton Community Development Corporation (LCDC) to raise funds for their current renovation project at the former Kennedy Shoe Store building.

“This event is good for the downtown in two ways.”, said Jared Albright, President of the LCDC, “We’re able to bring visitors to the area for an evening of fun as we raise money to restore a downtown eyesore. We’re hopeful that our  guests will spend some time, and money,  in town before they take in the show.”

The show starts at 7:30pm with an opening act before Duke begins his set at 8pm and The Old Bank will have a cash bar available throughout the evening. Some tickets are still available and can be purchased at Linton Family Pharmacy, Francis’ Jewel Box, by phone at 866-615-5864, or online at LintonCDC.org.

“We encourage all music fans to take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy live music downtown, said Albright. We would also like to thank Jerry and Gayle Margraf for their generosity and willingness to host our event.”

The Linton Community Development Corporation is a 501c3 non-profit. Past community projects include the Linton Music Festival, Live streaming of Linton High School football at LintonMiners.com, and The Lintonian.

Linton Music Festival will return in 2015 as music series

From the Linton Community Development Corporation:

The Linton Music Festival will not be held on Labor Day Weekend at Humphreys Park this year as it has since its beginning in 2005. The Linton Community Development Corporation, the local non-profit organization that oversees production of the festival, is currently reorganizing the event to return in 2015 as an ongoing music series to offer more music-related events throughout the year.

“The support from fans, local artists, and our sponsors has been tremendous ever since the first event kicked off 9 years ago”, said Jared Albright, festival founder and director. “We feel that a change in format for LMF is necessary. We see this not as an ending to the festival we know, but a new beginning. A music series will allow us to produce more events throughout the year and provide more opportunities for the local community to be exposed to the musical arts. We also hope that more frequent events will draw visitors to Linton on a consistent basis and provide a boost to our local economy.”

Fans can visit LintonMusicFest.com for updates later this year or follow Linton Music Fest on Facebook and Twitter.

About WT Feaster
So what’s Indianapolis guitarist WT (Travis) Feaster all about? Intense guitar playing, impassioned vocals – a rock blues hurricane!WT Feaster performs outstanding, mind bending, diamond hard riffs which scream with an edgy intensity, creating a sound as heavy and raucous as Alvin Lee and as distinctive as Stevie Ray and Jimi Hendrix.A fiery blues rock guitarist and southern soul blues belter with original material and Texas/Chicago inspired blues, WT Featser band is in the vanguard of the Mid west Rock/Blues scene. The boundless energy, telepathic musicianship and a flourish of six string ferocity is reminiscent of early Eric Clapton and Cream.

WT (Travis) Feaster made his name on the mid west “Young Guns of Blues Guitar” tour as well as being a leading light on the Chicago Blues Tour – a new take on an old concept – that took in eight clubs and ten bands.

His debut album the aptly titled ‘Long Overdue’ proved to be the perfect context for his impassioned fiery playing, while several high profile appearances in Europe including the Maryport Blues Festival cemented a growing reputation.

Influence by blues greats like Albert King, Bill Perry, Junior Wells, Alvin Lee, and rockers Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix, WT combines strong songwriting with impossible licks and a fiery sense of purpose that puts him near the top of the new generation rock and Blues scene.

Linton-Stockton Elementary – Harlem Shake

I don’t even think I can describe this.

(Explanation, from Wikipedia: The Harlem Shake is an Internet meme in the form of a video in which a group of people performs a comedy sketch accompanied by a short excerpt from the song “Harlem Shake“. As a meme, the video was replicated by many people, using the same concept, and this rapidly led to it becoming viral in early February 2013, with thousands of “Harlem Shake” videos being made and uploaded to YouTube every day at the height of its popularity.)
